Luke’s gospel has two provocative stories about outsiders who live out Jesus’ call to discipleship better than the religious establishment. It is a helpful reminder about receiving the blessings of God and living out our own call.

Dozens of Anglican parishes across central and northern Victoria want to become carbon neutral within five years.
The Bendigo diocese in central Victoria has voted to reduce its net carbon emissions to zero by 2012. Its Bishop, Andrew Curnow, says the church has a moral responsibility to reduce its impact on the environment.

The prime minister of Australia, John Howard is likely two days away from announcing an election date, and after 11 years of strained relations with Aboriginal people, has just announced his desire to make amends. Criticism aimed fairly and squarely at Mr. Howard suggest the public believes this is too little, too late.

In the context of HIV and aids, Zambia, like many of her African neighbours are in dire need of practical justice that will make a difference to ordinary people.
